Guild Charity Day Sunday 10th September

IT'S SOMETHING WE DO EVERY YEAR!

In the best way it knows how....decorative painting.....every year the Guild raises money for a nominated charity. It’s a fun way of getting together to raise money for a good cause and it can be very rewarding to think you are lending a helping hand.

The first link below takes you to a photo slideshow of the Charity Day Workshop where we all made gingerbread houses. It was demonstrated by Mrs Anne Meres.

At the same time you paint all sorts of interesting things. We usually organise a day where a workshop is taught or a series of mini workshops are taught, not necessarily always on decorative painting.

We have great fun....but you need to bring all your small change...we have FANTASTIC raffles going on constantly during the whole event.

In 2000 we had a 'heart' theme and we had heart badges, hats, biscuits... and we all had a terrific time.

The generosity of people is always refreshing - from the teachers who donate their time, the items being taught, those who donate pieces to be raffled, the people attending the day and everyone associated with organising the event.

Helping Those In Most In Need

Each year The Friends Through Folk Art Guild Inc. selects a charity to support and donate funds towards.

Charities we have supported in the past include,  “The Cord Blood Bank”, The Royal Hospital for Women & Children”, “The Victor Chang Cardiac Institute” "WIRES" and "Careflight".

THIS YEAR 2007

If you have a charity or worthwhile organisation please contact a committee member so we can put it up for consideration for the 2007 charity after all it's your guild, so come on get involved.
