Profile On Liebby
Demonstration with a difference
Liebby's floristry journey started many years ago in South Africa, where she was
a recognised Interflora member and ran an extremely successful florist shop.
She discovered floristry quite by chance when her friend John van Wyk (an
Interflora judge and teacher) called her one Monday morning in desperation to
explain that the church hall where he was about to teach a class of ten budding
florists, had been hired out as a baby clinic for new mothers.
Oh what was he to do!
Liebby came to the rescue and invited him to teach in her art studio, so John
arrived with his students, flowers, fruit, ribbons, bows, lots of floristry
goodies
and heaps of knowledge. He insisted that Liebby join in the classes and what do
you know, a new florist with wonderful ideas and a future career was about to be
born.
Liebby would like to share some of these ideas with you, so there will be a
demonstration of gift wrapping and bow making, as well as a hands on bow
making session using tear ribbon.
The ribbon will be supplied, but please bring your own scissors, as well as a
camera so that step by step photos can be taken.
Thanks and see you at the meeting.

MEMORY BOX PROGRAM
(Memory Boxes Needed)
We would like to welcome Helen McGuirk as the new coordinator for the
Memory Box program. She has taken over the position from Wendy Shortland
who retired in July 2006 and who did a fantastic job for many years. Good luck
Wendy in your study pursuits!
Helen is in the process of creating a database with information to make the
coordination of boxes, hospitals and artists more manageable. It is astounding
that in NSW alone more than 1,500 memory boxes could be used each year.
For Helen to develop her database she needs information from you so she can find
out which hospitals are receiving and wanting memory boxes. Do you already
belong to a group or guild who supply the boxes or would you like to belong to
one? Have you adopted a certain hospital/s? How many boxes are required
monthly? Are you interested in being a volunteer State or Area Coordinator or
could you help in any way with the program?
If you can provide Helen with any information at all or even if you would like
to
know more about this wonderful program please contact her. You can email/ring or
post any information to Helen as follows:

Hospitals are in urgent need for more memory boxes. These little memory boxes
hold special memories for those who have lost a little one so dear to them.
Memories never leave us - our lives change in so many ways but our memories
stay the same and live with us forever. Memory Boxes are just that; a box of
wonderful and beautiful memories. Anybody who wishes to donate memory box please
bring your painted memory box to the next General Meeting - Saturday 17th
February 2007.
